Alan Ponce He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in 1998, to parents originally from the municipality of Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico.


His love for music and singing began at the age of eight, inspired by the great titans of Mexican folk music—such as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Javier Solís, Antonio Aguilar, José Alfredo Jiménez, Francisco “Charro” Avitia, Vicente Fernández, among many other artists. As a child, he cultivated his confidence by singing in front of others at family parties and at school and community events.


At age 13, he made his television debut in Los Angeles, California, on the show "Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento" during its sixth season (2012) on Estrella TV, achieving fifth place as the youngest finalist. On that show, he sang for judges Pepe Garza, and the late Héctor Suárez and Jenni Rivera "La Diva de la Banda"—who showed their support and respect for Alan's talent. A year later in Miami, Florida, he participated in the first season (2013) of "La Voz Kids USA" on Telemundo, placing second nationally among more than six thousand young people who auditioned across the country. He sang for judges Paulina Rubio, Prince Royce, and Roberto Tapia. He also participated in the eighth season (2019) of "La Voz México" on TV Azteca in Mexico City, in front of judges Ricardo Montaner, Yahir, Belinda, and Lupillo Rivera.


In 2015, Alan began working on his first album as an independent artist, titled “Sin Más, Ni Más” (No More, No More), where he united his two roots (Mexico and the USA) in a single tradition (Mexican music). On this album (and in Mexico City), he had the great privilege of working with the legendary arranger, musical director, and icon of Mexican folk music—the maestro Don Rigoberto Alfaro Rodríguez—who recently passed away in November 2024. He also recorded his album under the general direction of maestro Joel Solís—first cousin of Marco Antonio Solís, and both founders of Los Bukis—at his studio of the same name (formerly Estudio Solaya). He recorded songs by composers such as Manuel Monterrosas, Jesse Armenta, Francisco Escamilla, and Rigoberto Alfaro himself. Under Maestro Alfaro's direction, Alan gained invaluable experience as a musician and emerging artist within ranchera music. Furthermore, they forged a beautiful friendship and mutual admiration that lasted for ten years. Thanks to him, Alan reaffirmed his passion and his aspiration to defend, feel and appreciate ranchera music and its essence.

In 2019, Alan inspired a bilingual children's book titled "Los Hermanos Mariachi / The Mariachi Brothers," distributed nationally by Kemper Auto Insurance's Read Conmigo program. The book tells Alan's story through the eyes of a little chick who discovers his passion for singing. It was published to encourage and promote bilingual literacy among children.


Aside from his singing career, Alan studied at university to become a music teacher. In the three years after graduating, Alan taught and shared his passion for mariachi music with young students in Tolleson, Arizona—teaching them to read music and play instruments such as the guitar, vihuela, guitarrón, trumpet, and violin. He worked alongside his mentor and friend, Maestro Efraín Casillas (named 2024 Arizona State Teacher of the Year), within the music program at the Tolleson elementary school district. There, Alan taught and mentored students who belong to Mariachi Los Tigres de Tolleson, a group that has gone on to participate and compete at the International Mariachi Conference (TIMC) in Tucson, Arizona.


In his free time, Alan is a collector and amateur researcher of vinyl records and objects of interest related to Mexican folk music — the qualities of a person with an old soul.


Currently, Alan is also a real estate agent in Arizona, helping people with all their needs in that market. He has successfully combined his music career with this profession to share his unique story and continue forging his own path to success.


For the past fifteen years, Alan Ponce has shared his passion for ranchera music, ensuring that this beautiful tradition doesn't die out and endures among new generations. He is the rejuvenated embodiment of the iconic singing charro.
